Anyone who lives, works, owns property, or attends school in the Nantahala Regional Library service area (Cherokee, Clay, and Graham Counties in North Carolina) is eligible for a free library card.

You must present a valid photo ID and proof of current address (e.g., driver's license, utility bill, rental agreement). Children under 18 must have a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian with a library card in good standing.

Library cards are free for all eligible patrons. Replacement cost for lost cards is $3.

Yes, your NRL library card is valid at all four library branches: Andrews Public Library, Graham County Public Library, Moss Memorial Library, and Murphy Public Library. It can also be used at any NC Cardinal member library (https://statelibrary.ncdcr.gov/services-libraries/nc-cardinal).

The NRL Bookmobile is a mobile library that makes home visits, school/daycare trips, and other community stops. Anyone can schedule a visit by the Bookmobile by calling the headquarters office at 828-837-2025 and asking for the Bookmobile. These patrons receive a library card specific to the Bookmobile.

We offer special privileges for Teachers and Homeschool parents that allow for longer checkout periods to support the important work that you do. Talk to your local NRL Branch library for more information.
